 All candidates who submit an application are eligible to receive:

 1-year of complimentary membership

to be applied to the current year or following year based on the candidate's payment status. 


 Nadine Popovich, administrator, will notify all candidates of their membership status and will apply 1-year of complimentary membership based on status. This is a one-time only offer. A candidate who submits for the Award more than once, will only be eligible to receive complimentary for one year. 


Research Grant Application 

The Call for Applications for the 2024 Research Award begins  April 1, 2024  with a deadline of December 16,  2024. The Awardee will be notified on or before January 20, 2025.  Applicants must be a member in good standing of the CGGS and within five years of completing fellowship training. 

Interested applicants who are within five years of fellowship are asked to:

  • Request a letter of recommendation from their fellowship director or other CGGS member that explains why they would be a good candidate for the Clinician-Scientist Research Grant award.  The recommendation letter should contain details of the nominee's education and accomplishments to date, as well as their potential to impact upon our field in the future. 
  • Submit a letter that describes their commitment to being a clinician-scientist, explains their area of research interest, touches on current projects that are underway, and details how they intend to use the funds. 
  • Each of these letters should be no more than two pages of single-spaced lines using 1" margins, 12 pt. font size and text aligned to the left.

The Award Recipient's research institution will receive a $10,000 grant. The awardee will be:

  • Formally recognized during  the CGGS meeting held in conjunction with the American Glaucoma Society Annual meeting . The CGGS requests the award recipient to give a brief presentation of their research related to the award.*
  • Acknowledged in all CGGS digital announcements pertaining to the Award.

*If the awardee is not attending the AGS annual meeting, the presentation may be given during the CGGS program held in conjunction with the New England Ophthalmology Society (NEOS)  meeting at least 12 months following the date of the award announcement
