Membership ELIGIBILITY AND APPLICATION

ELIGIBILITY:  Membership is limited to glaucoma specialists who trained with Drs. Chandler or Grant, or who trained with a member of the Society. Nomination by the member preceptor is required.  You may view the Bylaws section pertaining to membership. Please note the rules concerning who may propose nomination.

Honorary Membership Eligibility - The Society welcomes physicians from institutions not currently represented on the Chandler Grant Glaucoma Society Legacy Tree may be considered for honorary membership if they have demonstrated distinction in the field of glaucoma through teaching, research, or clinical care. Eligible candidates must also be involved in training glaucoma fellows within programs where at least one preceptor is a current CGGS member. Contact Nadine Popovich to learn more. 

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION:  CGGS offers two membership application pathways based on an applicant’s training status.

  • Fellow Membership Application - Fellow membership is open to physicians currently enrolled in an AUPO-recognized glaucoma fellowship program and under the supervision of a CGGS member or recognized fellowship director. Fellow members receive complimentary membership during training and a streamlined transition to Active Membership upon fellowship completion, pending approval and receipt of a fellowship certificate.  Fellows will be required to have their Fellowship Director or Fellowship faculty member (either must be a member of the CGGS) to complete a short form to accompany the membership application. 
  • Post Fellowship Membership Application Glaucoma specialists (who trained under Drs. Chandler or Grant, or who trained with a member of the Society and who have completed fellowship training should apply directly with the Post Fellowship Membership Application Please include withe completed membership application the following: 
      • A letter of support from proposed new member's preceptor who is a CGGS Member.
      • Additional letters of recommendation by ophthalmologists are OPTIONAL unless requested by the CGGS Board.
      • Curriculum Vitae or resume.

Membership dues are renewed annually ($175 per calendar year).    

Elections are held bi-annually in March and October.

Applications must be received by: March 25 for the March 31 ballot  & September 25 for the October 1st ballot.
